Senior Underground Geologist

On behalf of our client, a leading gold producer we are now looking for an exceptionally motivated Senior Underground Mine Geologist who wants to drive the operational progress of the company forward. Join an established team of Geologists that are passionate about what they do. The company has a strong focus on developing their people and are looking for someone to help to enhance the team with technical knowledge and leadership skills. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Identify and prioritise processes, work targets and workload
  • Provide and technical planning, management, and leadership for the project 
  • Supervise, and when necessary, modify, work programs to achieve targets 
  • Ensure that all work is of the highest possible standard and quality while maintaining efficient, effective and safe implementation of operations work programs 
  • Work closely with Long Term Planning to optimise the ore body and maximise recovery as well as identify exploration, development, and grade control priorities to meet schedule and target output 
  • Prepare monthly reports and technical reports 
  • Routine cost control and reporting 
  • Develop and support a close relationship with exploration geology and internal/external research groups 
  • Assist in the training, development and coaching of team members.  

Key requirements include: 

  • At least 8 years’ experience in mine geology 
  • Formal, degree qualification in Geology 
  • A practical understanding of resource modelling techniques as they relate to gold mineralisation using SURPAC software 
  • A practical understanding of the facets of gold mineralisation and gold deposits 
  • Good knowledge of sampling techniques as they relate to gold 
  • Excellent people skills, the ability to supervise a team, mentor and coach when necessary.
