Finance and Commercial Manager

MPI have partnered with NickelSearch Limited (ASX:NIS), who are a dedicated nickel sulphide explorer and developer, advancing their flagship Carlingup Nickel Sulphide project in Ravensthorpe, WA. With existing resources totalling 171kt of contained nickel, there are compelling opportunities to rapidly expand on existing resources whilst targeting additional Greenfields discoveries. NickelSearch is studying new processing approaches, with a willingness to try new ways of working across all of its activities.

Ably led by an experienced and credible board, and well funded from IPO, NiS are committed to supplying nickel into the global electrification and energy transition markets. With an eye on maximising near term production opportunities and uncovering the true potential of over 10kms of underexplored fertile nickel terrane, this role will be empowered to deliver on strategy and exploration success.  

Career development will also be a key tenant for those wanting it, with the MD and board supporting an orderly transition to a more senior role for individuals displaying the right aptitude and abilities.

The role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for the companies operational and financial performance.

Duties to include but not limited to:
  • Oversee all aspects of finance including end of month processes, reconciliations, accounts preparation, taxation returns, P&L reports etc
  • Development of financial plans & controls including budgeting and forecasting, commercial arrangement and reporting the information to the management team
  • Analysing the business performance, including the profitability, revenue, pricing, and cost of goods
  • Partnering with business managers to drive financial performance and driving efficiencies to ensure contracts remain financially viable and delivered on budget
  • Identifying new funding opportunities, spanning debt, equity, R&D funding mechanisms.
  • Supervising a Financial Accountant and outsourced payments company.
  • Working with the MD and Exploration manager to ensure Tenements stay currrent and in good standing
  • Preparation of ASX announcements
  • Overseeing and managing all aspects of the finance and commercial department
  • Providing financial and commercial advice to managers regarding initiatives to improve the company’s financial performance
  • Use of MYOB and MS products would be favourable, but the company is willing to consider more appropriate software and programs as you see fit.

Attributes/About You:
  • 8+ years’ experience working in a similar position. Any prior mining experience would be highly advantageous but not essential.
  • Professional Accounting qualification such as CA or CPA 
  • Experience using budgeting, forecasting and reporting tools
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages
  • Strong commercial acumen and business understanding
  • Commitment to the NiS story, can see and wants the longer-term success story at Ravensthorpe and beyond.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a tight knit team.
