When the data was collected in September 2021, it also showed 6% of the global mining industry’s robotics jobs were in Australia. GlobalData’s analysts track the number of new robotics job listings from key companies to come up with their analysis.
Globally, the number of robotics jobs in mining is increasing at pace. The number of robotics roles in mining in the Asia-Pacific region (which includes Australia) was up 15.2 percentage points, year-on-year, for the September quarter 2021.

Across the global mining industry, Australia had the third-fastest growth in the proportion of robotics roles advertised in the mining and technology sectors. Hungary was the global mining industry’s fastest-growing robotics jobs market, with a 14% increase in robotics job ads for the September quarter 2021 compared to the June quarter of 2020. Japan had 5.5% growth and Australia had 3.8% growth in the same period.
