Recently we published an article that asked a bold question: does the gender pay gap start at recruitment?
The gender pay gap is the difference between the average full-time weekly earnings of men and women across all ages, industries and roles. Nationally, across industries, Australia’s full-time gender pay gap is 15.3 per cent, with women earning on average $251.20 per week less than men.
Mining is the highest-paid industry for working women in Australia, but that doesn’t mean it’s immune to the pay gap problem. With the topic so hotly debated in Australia right now, we wanted to hear your opinions and experiences. This month, Mining People International’s Polling Centre is asking people to take part in a short (six question) survey.
We want to know your impressions about this issue, and hear what you think about the pay gap issue in our industry.
The results will be collated at the end of the month and shared on the MPi Newsroom.
