The mining employment market is hotting up.

Is the grass really greener on the other side? With the mining employment market heating up, now is a good time to consider whether you’re in the right job.

In the previous mining boom, we were super critical of people jumping ship for a few extra dollars or because they thought the grass was greener on the other side when, in reality, the problem with the job they were in was themselves. Some people quit only to realise the problem was still gazing wistfully back at them from the mirror.

Our approach as mining career advisors to people in transition is to coach them to carefully clarify why they are considering a change. We want these potential candidates  to ensure they:

  1. Are not running away from a problem when the problem is them.
  2. Are clear about what they want next in their career move.

Acting without clarity in these two areas inevitably leads to a mistake. We’ve seen it time and again and are intent on helping you avoid making the same error in your career.

Assuming you are thinking about moving jobs for the right reasons,  in this candidate-friendly market, what would tempt to you to consider making a change to a new role?

  • A better salary.
  • Career advancement.
  • A better work-life balance.
  • Something else (please enter a free-form comment).
