Technical Specialist - Underground

  • International permanent positions - based in Papua New Guinea
  • Attractive base salary, including both Short and Long term incentive payments.
  • Work on near-new gear in this rapidly expanding operation.
MPI Recruitment are currently working with one of our international clients, searching for Technical Specialists for their mine in Papua New Guinea.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Specialist, you will be working alongside a group of local trades people on a range of underground equipment such as Sandvik drills and boggers, CAT and Sandvik trucks, as well as Shotcrete and Charge Up equipment. The fleet is near new with an age of 2-3 years. You will spend 60% of your time on the tools, with the remaining time coaching, guiding, mentoring, and training the crew around best practices. You will demonstrate your skills to make sure you are developing their knowledge base.

Note this is not an office job, you will need to be on the tools working alongside the crew, and actively leading the teams with all maintenance activities.

On offer is a highly attractive base salary, as well as both short and long term incentives that are highly achievable and currently being paid to existing personnel. These roles are offered on a 4 week on/4 week off roster, day shift only, FIFO ex-Brisbane. All roles offered are permanent in nature.
The site is a few years old; as such the gear is near new, and the camp is a neat and tidy with a gym and internet connectivity - the site is in the process of upgrading to the Starlink service meaning there will be no disruptions to the internet service while you are onsite.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Australian Trade Certificate - HD Fitter or comparable
  • Minimum of 5 years experience post apprenticeship completion
  • Experience working as an expat previously - this is a must!
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor a crew of local trades people.
  • Experience working in an expat Leading Hand or Supervisor role previously will be highly regarded.
