Leaching Superintendent

Our client is a highly successful metals refinery with a mission to be the worlds safest, most environmentally responsible, and competitive refinery in the world.  On their behalf we seek to appoint a suitably experienced and capable Process / Chemical Engineer to play a pivotal Superintendent role within the Refineries Leaching facilities.

Reporting to Manager – Leaching and Purification, you will be responsible for the overall management and leadership of the department, including health & safety; environmental performance; production; maintenance; and cost efficiency of the leach operations. 

Your key duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Provide and maintain a work environment that promotes workplace health and safety and good environmental practice.  
  • Control the process to achieve production quantity & quality, and process efficiency goals.
  • Ensure that all operations are maintained within specified parameters.
  • Ensure that there is continuous improvement in process efficiency. 
  • Manage all aspects of department employees, including recruitment, training and career development.  
  • Ensure a cost effective, sustainable maintenance program is in place so that equipment availability continuously improves, and asset values are retained. 
  • Manage the safety aspects of maintenance and contractor personnel, with particular emphasis on education, lock outs, clearance to work, and supervision.  
  • Establish and manage a department budget, which achieves the required safety, environmental, cost and production objectives.    
  • Nurture and foster a culture of Continuous improvement within the department, and  
  • Manage all department reporting activities to assist in monitoring, controlling, and optimising leaching activities. 
With 14 direct reports and a team of 60+ people across production, operations, and maintenance, this represents a significant role with a broad scope that will appeal to someone looking to ultimately advance their leadership career to the highest level within a world class refining facility.
We require a degree qualified Chemical Engineer, Processing Engineer or Metallurgist with a track record of success working with and leading a team within a metals refinery.  You will have demonstrable leadership and communication skills capable of supporting your success in this business critical position.
