To quickly explain, we have Geology, Processing, and Mining Engineering departments to support our operational and support departments. All work in their own way but are 100% there to support each other in reaching the common goal, just like your operation!
We’re planning ahead to stay ahead
So when this COVID-19 situation started getting real, we immediately acted and formed our own C-19 “war council” with department heads from each area. We meet early each morning to absorb, plan and readjust based on the previous day’s press conferences, recommendations and changes to the law.
Like all in our industry, the first and foremost priority is to ensure the health and safety of our staff and contract employees. Who would have thought three months ago that any business would require a Chief Germ Killer (CGK) to walk the office 2-3 times a day to spray and clean all communal surfaces?
Second, we see the very real possibility that, in the near future, we must work from home. (I write this from my home office in Mandurah.) For the past four weeks our IT staff have done a wonderful job getting all our team set up to seamlessly work from home. Even our Administrator has our phone switchboard at home.

Further, to ensure continued support for our clients, all our Consulting teams know we need to stay ahead of the curve. They predicted that boarders will close and are closely monitoring the developing situation. For the past four weeks we have been pooling state-based contractors across all mining disciplines. We are able to provide contractors for most roles and know who is domiciled in each state. This means we have suitable resources for where your operation is based.
We already know those in the mining industry are a bloody resilient bunch; it wasn’t that long ago we went through the GFC, and then “the great mining downturn”, and now this. The current climate is asking us all to rise to the challenge, to innovate and to continue to deliver our essential services in the safest way possible.
MPi are ready for this and whatever else comes our way.
